2009 Symposium

On May 31, 2009 (the Solemnity of Pentecost), the first Marian Symposium on Coredemption was held at the Shrine of Our Lady of Guadalupe in La Crosse. The theme of the Symposium was the Coredemption of the Blessed Virgin Mary and its relationship to her Spiritual Maternity.

The attendees who filled the church to capacity listened to featured internationally recognized theologians and popular Catholic speakers, including Fr. Peter Damian M. Fehlner, Franciscan-Marian theologian and the first Rector of the Shrine of Our Lady of Guadalupe; Fr. Thomas Euteneuer, president of Human Life International; Fr. Pablo Straub, missionary priest and popular EWTN personality; Mr. Raymond de Souza, popular apologist of St. Gabriel Communications; and Dr. Mark Miravalle, Mariologist and professor at Franciscan University of Steubenville

Lending her talent and charisma as Master of Ceremonies was internationally renowned singer and songwriter Dana Scallon. Also joining us for a cameo appearance was Fr. Joseph Hirsch, vocations director of the Diocese of La Crosse who incorporates his musical talents so well into his priestly ministry.

The friars of AirMaria were on hand to record the presentations. The entire Symposium was broadcast live on the internet.

There is one word which best describes the ambience and the quality of the day’s presentations: exceptional. We pray that this event gave glory to God through the worthy honor of His Most Holy Mother and ours, who suffered in union with her divine Son, Jesus Christ, so that, through her intercession, we may have life in Him.
